Defender Babatunde Solomon is happy for Elkanemi Warriors’ winning start to the 2018-19 season and for his debut, but has warned ‘this is just the beginning’.
The centre-back marshalled the defence line in the 1-0 win over Akwa United in Uyo.
“It is always important to start the season on the right foot and with a win away from home. The team endured throughout the match and, despite not having our best day, we were able to suffer and take our opportunity.
“I was hoping for a good debut and that we could win, but this is just the beginning and we know that we must improve a lot.
“This is a great League and so we have to keep working, both individually and collectively,” Babatunde Solomon reflected to Sports247.ng.
The Desert Warriors host Kano Pillars on Wednesday for their first home match of the season.
Itodo: Pillars have has Elkanemi Warriors respect
Elkanemi Warriors are in for a tough time in Week 2’s game against Kano Pillars, argues their goalkeeper Itodo Akor.
Warriors started their league season with a 1-0 win over Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
The former Rangers International shot stopper has made clear that his side are full of respect for Masu Gida.
“Pillars have maintained their style of play,” ventured the keeper to Futbalgalore.com.
“They are very focused at the back, they defend with the lines of the team close together and then in attack they have people who are very fast but who can also play as the game requires.
“They are a very complete team and that says it all.
“Last year Pillars proved to be a very serious team and on the first weekend, they won 1-0 against Heartland.
“It is going to be a tough game for us but we will go there to try to add three points because this is football and you can beat anyone.”
