Abia Warriors manager Imama Amapakabo admitted his side were fortunate to emerge with a 1-0 victory over Sunshine Stars in the NPFL on Sunday.
A 27th-minute goal from Paul Samson secured all three points for Abia Warriors in a tricky contest.
After the game, Amapakabo admitted that his side were not at their usual level and needed a moment of brilliance to secure the three points
“A very difficult game for us. We didn’t play as we would have liked, but like I told the players when things don’t go right for you on the day you try to keep it simple which they did not manage to do.
“We lost virtually about 55 percent of the second balls which is key in a game like this. Most importantly, the result mattered. A moment of brilliance from Samson and that is all we needed in a day like this to get the result we want. Three points, we travel tomorrow morning to prepare for our next game.”
Amapakabo rued his side’s missed chances.
“We have this problem virtually every time. And I think my responsibility is to help the team get there tactically,” he added.
