The pre-season journey continues for VFC as we next take on NPFL side Heartland FC of Owerri on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
The clash which takes place at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, marks the first meeting between both sides.
While Coach Rafael Everton will use the game to further assess the new inclusions into the team and ensure a further blend, four-time Premier League champions Heartland will also use the game to test their players ahead of the new season. After last Friday’s goalless draw with neighbors Dakkada FC, Everton had stated that he was “impressed with the progress of the boys, with more quality friendlies we will build a formidable team before the season kicks off.”
So far this pre-season, the Lions have played three friendlies: losing 0-1 to Abia Warriors, beating Immortality FC 4-1, before playing a goalless draw Dakkada FC last Friday.
