Captain of Enyimba FC, Ifeanyi Anaemena is hoping to win a second league title with the club after qualifying for the season-ending Super Six playoffs in Lagos.
Enyimba will compete with Akwa United, Kano Pillars, FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Lobi Stars and Enugu Rangers in a mini-league formed to determine the 2019 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champion.
Anaemena expressed delight at being part of the squad that gave the former champions a shot at another trophy but believes their first match against Rangers would not be a walk in the park.
“We are looking forward to the first match of the Championship Playoff against Rangers International,” said Anaemena.
“It is going to be a tough game considering the pedigree of the two teams in the NPFL and an Oriental Derby is always a match where the two teams want to win for pride.”
Anaemena had a fruitful season with the People’s Elephant – having scored six goals in the league.
The Super Six playoff competition starts on June 4 in Lagos, with matches to be played at the Agege Stadium.
