In addition, fans have been indefinitely banned from attending Shooting Stars’ home games.

The violence occurred at the end of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 32 fixture at the Lekan Salami Stadium, prompting a disciplinary panel meeting on Wednesday.

The Ibadan-based club was found guilty on three counts: failure to provide adequate security, failure to control their supporters, resulting in an attack on the visiting team, and allowing objects to be thrown onto the field and at referees.

For failing to provide adequate and effective security which allowed unauthorized individuals access to restricted areas and led to harassment of match officials, Shooting Stars were fined 1 million naira.

The second charge read: “You are in breach of Rule C9 of the Framework and Rules of the Nigeria Premier Football League, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, during the Matchday 32 fixture: Shooting Stars vs. Ikorodu City, you failed to ensure the proper conduct of your supporters, which resulted in the assault on the away team supporters.”

The disciplinary panel imposed another fine of 1 million naira for this charge. For the third offense—failing to control their fans—an additional 1 million naira fine was levied.

For breaching Rule B13.18, as a result of their supporters throwing objects toward the field and match officials, Shooting Stars were fined another 1 million naira, bringing the total to 3 million naira in fines,

In addition to the 2 million naira to be paid for damages to the Ikorodu City team bus.

As part of the ruling, the panel also ordered that the Lekan Salami Stadium be closed to fans for the remainder of the season.

Under Rule C26, Shooting Stars are required to either accept the ruling or file an appeal within 48 hours.
