Remo Stars FC ran away with a point on Matchday 31 against Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan to maintain their unbeaten record against fellow southwestern teams in the league this season.
Remo Stars came into the game being 4th on the table, needing a win to keep the pressure for a continental spot and also to record a double over their rivals but the match finished 1-1 with the Sky Blues’ goals coming from Sikiru Alimi via the penalty spot.
“I had no other option on my mind than to make it right because I was placed with a huge responsibility and I am happy I didn’t let my teammates down,” Sikiru told Sports247 about how it felt stepping up to take the kick to put them level.
Quizzed about dropping to 5th on the table after Enyimba picked a win of theirs, he said “of course, there’s so much to play for, we are not bothered about the log anymore we just want to keep doing better than we have always done.”
Remo Stars now sit in 5th position with 47 points and are 4 point away from securing a continental slot next season.
