Remo Stars Football Club (RSFC) head into the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) rescheduled matchday one (1) clash with Rivers United FC at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
This fixture which was earlier fixed for the thirteenth (13th) of January, 2019 but was moved to a later date (tomorrow) because the visitors were involved in the Nigeria National League (NNL) super 8 tournament.
The Sky Blue Stars visit the Pride of Rivers at the back of a convincing 2-0 victory over Katsina United at the Oshogbo Township Stadium in Osun State.
Victor Mbaoma and Kingsley Akemini scored a goal each to give Remo Stars a vital three points after an earlier 1-1 and 0-0 draw with Bendel Insurance FC and Niger Tornadoes respectively to move them second on the Group A log table.
Rivers United FC got all three points against MFM FC after Opara Austin put the ball inside his own net from Wasiu Jimoh’s low cross to ensure a win for the Pride of Rivers at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium.
Rivers United are behind Remo Stars FC on goal difference, they will both go for a win in tomorrow’s clash to leapfrog current leaders MFM FC on the top of the NPFL Group A table.
Both sides have met twice in the Nigeria Professional Football League and the host have defeated Remo Stars twice, they won 1-0 in the presence of their fans and won 3-1 at the Gateway International Stadium in Sagamu.
A win for either side will take take them to the top of the table with two (2) points and a draw still take them ahead of the current leaders on goals difference but level on points.
