The management of Plateau United Football Club of Jos has dedicated the CF Champions League ticket it won after placing tops in the 2019/2020 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL table to the government, fans, and the people of Plateau State for their unflinching support and encouragement.
According to a statement signed by the General Manager of the Club, Pius Henwan described their support and encouragement as the driving force that propelled them to pick the continental ticket as a sign of appreciation for their efforts.
Henwan explained that the continent ticket which was heartwarming is a manifestation of the hard work, commitment, and dedication put in by the entire team in the outgone season halted by the Covid-19 pandemic currently ravaging the world.
He specifically thanked the club number one supporter and leader of the ” Rescue Team in Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Barrister Simon Lalong for his untiring support, motivation, and encouragement to the team
The General Manager further commended the technical crew headed by the soft-spoken, Abdu Maikaba for rejuvenating and reviving the fortunes of the club as one of the best in the country.
The management of the club equally salutes the players for their hard work, dedication, commitment, diligence and cooperation which them emerging tops as the 2019/2020 NPFL as the hallmark of a true champions
Plateau United were comfortably on top of the 2019/2020 log and looking set for a second title in four years before the league was put on hold due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The club also thanked her teeming fans and the people of Plateau State who usually troop out in their numbers to cheer the team to victory and assured that the team will continue to strive hard and put smiles on their faces
The management in a special way appreciated the efforts of all the major stakeholders of Football in Plateau State for their unwavering support and solicited for more as the team prepares to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League next year.
With the September/ October kick-off date for the 2020/2021 season fast approaches, the management of the club assures that efforts are on to recruit tested and quality players to beef up the team and urged those who will be seeking greener pastures elsewhere to pray for the success of the team
It would be recalled that the League Management Company LMC organizers of the Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL, declared the 2019/2020 league season conclusive with Plateau United top of the log with forty-three points from twenty-five matches as champions of the outgone season.
