Rangers International returned to winning ways after thrashing Jigawa Golden Stars 3-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu in a matchday 23 counter.
The result is Ranger’s first win in three games after playing a draw with Akwa United and losing to Rivers United.
The Flying Antelopes started slowly with the visitors starting brightly dominating and dictating possession. The first real chance broke for Samuel Stone whose goal-bound shot was deflected into the waiting hands of the Ranger goalie.
Slowly building into the game, Rangers settled and started applying pressure. All that paid off when a Tope Olusesi pinpoints cross found Christian Nnaji’s head who beat the Sochima Victor with a glancing header.
More chances fell for Nnaji but his composure was questionable as he blew away clear-cut chances.
The first 45 ended on the high for the hosts as Nnaji lashed onto an Asiegbu defense splitting pass but could not beat Paul Godwin who had just come on for the injured Sochi Victor.
The men in white ended the hand on the high with that chance.
Salisu Yusuf threw in more attackers to see off the game as Godspwer Aniefiok and Ugwuoke Ugochukwu came on in the second half.
Both players affected the game instantly as Godspwer got the second from an Olusesi free-kick and Ugwuoke deep-lying through pass found Olawoyin Ibrahim who calmly slots the ball into the net.
Ranger from there controlled the game and sealed their return to winning ways with an emphatic performance.
