Remo Stars continued their impressive run in the NPFL with a 2-1 victory over Rangers International, extending their perfect start to the season.
The win was particularly special as captain Nduka Junior made his 100th league appearance, leading his team to the top of the table with 12 points, seven goals scored, and just one conceded.
The game began with Remo Stars dictating play, as Nduka played a pivotal role in midfield, controlling possession and setting up attacks. Early on, Sodiq Ismail and Ibrahim Shuaib came close to breaking the deadlock, but Rangers’ defense held strong. Franck Mawuena also had a golden opportunity, heading just wide from a free-kick delivered by Nduka.
In the second half, Remo Stars found their breakthrough in the 50th minute when Alex Oyowah scored his first goal for the club, calmly finishing underneath the goalkeeper. Rangers, however, responded almost immediately, leveling the score from the penalty spot just four minutes later.
Remo Stars remained focused and in the 73rd minute, Tochukwu Michael scored a stunning goal, curling a shot into the top corner to restore the home side’s lead. Michael’s strike proved decisive, as Remo Stars regained control of the match and held off Rangers’ attempts to find another equalizer.
Haruna Hadi was also instrumental in the victory, dominating the midfield with his skillful play and providing the key pass that led to Ahmed being fouled in a dangerous position.
With Nduka Junior’s leadership and their relentless attacking play, Remo Stars now sit comfortably at the top of the NPFL standings, continuing to impress with four consecutive wins. Their mix of solid defense and creative attack has them looking like strong title contenders this season.
