Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin defeated Katsina United 2-0 in the Match Day 34 game of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium on Saturday,June 1,2024 to remain comfortable in the top-flight league.

Chisom Okereke scored the opening goal of the match in the 64th minute of play to win the Man of The Match award, sponsored by the Nigeria Breweries(NB).
The bullish Enyimba loaney striker broke the goal scoring jinx at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium today when he powered a loose ball behind Katsina goalie Kolimba Alladoum following a poor clearance of Meyinwa Oritseweyimi’s shot on target to give Insurance the lead in the 64th minute of play. He has found it difficult to find his scoring rhythm that he is known for since he joined the Benin Arsenal this season. He scored his first goal for Insurance in PortHarcourt against Rivers Utd in a 1-1 draw first round encounter.
Substitute Evans Ogbonda doubled the lead for Insurance in the 78th minute of action with his fine solo effort from the left flank
Both teams had laboured to a goalless first half after their efforts failed to yield any goal before the half time whistle.
Bendel Insurance FC now occupied 7th position on the league table on 49 points same as Katsina Utd who now trails the Benin Arsenals on the 8th position.
Insurance will be guests to Abia Warriors in the Match Day 35 next weekend in Aba
