Enyimba FC thrashed Kwara United with three unreplied goals on Sunday morning in a Matchday 33 encounter of the Nigeria Professional Football League at the Enyimba Stadium Aba to boost their hope of securing a continental ticket for next season.
Victor Mbaoma put the hosts in the lead with his 3rd minute strike from Christian Ekong assist shortly after Kwara United goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba denied his effort on goal.
Victor Mboama scored his second goal of the game to double the lead for the Peoples’ Elephant in the 15th minute to hand Enyimba a comfortable 2-0 halftime lead.
Kwara United had the chance to reduce the deficit in the 50th minute as Kabir Balogun’s corner landed in a decent position but Issa Magaji’s effort went over the bar.
However, Victor Mboama netted the hosts’ third to complete his hattrick in the 54th minute. The goal also landed him top of NPFL highest scorers chat with 15goals.
At full time, Enyimba walked away with an impressive 3-0 and a vital three points in their fight for a continental football next season as they move to 4th on the NPFL table with 51 points but have now played a game more than the other teams in the league while defeat meant Kwara United slipped in their race for a continental ticket, they currently occupy the 6th position with 49 points.
