The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has directed all topflight clubs to establish and operate functional websites within the next month as part of efforts to enhance fan engagement and secure additional revenue streams.
This directive was one of the key decisions made during a one-day summit for club media directors held in Makurdi, Benue State, on Friday.

The NPFL’s Chief Operating Officer, Davidson Owumi, emphasized the importance of clubs utilizing websites alongside social media platforms to drive digital engagement.
Owumi informed participants that official letters would be sent to clubs that have yet to establish websites, instructing them to comply within a month.
Owumi also encouraged media officers to invest in their personal development, improving their skills to better serve their clubs and communities.
The workshop featured presentations from industry experts, including NPFL Director of Media, Harry Iwuala, who discussed the qualities of an effective club media officer.
Multimedia journalist Andrew Randa shared insights on using multimedia tools to enhance the media functions of clubs.
Additionally, NPFL Head of Legal and Compliance, Uche Egbe, provided explanations on relevant codes and rules guiding the conduct of club officers.
Other speakers included Lazarus Ibeabuchi, head of public relations at StarTimes, the league’s official broadcast partner, and Andrew Ekejiuba of GTI Assets Management.
The 2024/25 NPFL season is set to commence on August 31, with an opening fixture between reigning champions Enugu Rangers and Federation Cup winners El-Kanemi Warriors.
