Matchday 26 of the Nigeria Professional Football League saw the bottom of the table MFM FC, Lagos-based club takes on third-placed Rangers Int’l of Enugu in a very important clash in the race to survive the drop for the Lagos club but the fair game was covered by fans violence after the final whistle.
The game ended goalless as both teams couldn’t find the back of the net and the sound of the final whistle saw some aggravated thugs whose actions can be linked to the inability of the home side to pick maximum points.
Centre Referee Magasi Donald from Avenue State was a victim of slap, punches, and hit in the widely circulated videos after the game and the Lagos State Football Association condemns the terrible acts in a statement released by its secretary Akeem Rabiu whilst assuring that investigation will be done and the culprits will be brought to book.
After several minutes of chaos, security officials were finally able to get the Centre referee away from the aggravated fans and into safety as MFM FC remain bottom of the NPFL table with 13 games left to play in the season.
