NPFL: Kabiru Sanusi Digged deep to earn Kada city 3 maximum points against El Kanemi Warriors

Kada City on Wednesday secured the three maximum points as Kabiru Sanusi’s curler off a free kick on the dot of ninety minute was enough for a superb come back for Kada city to beat El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 in one of NPFL match day 7 fixtures at the Ahmadu Bello stadium, Kaduna this evening.

El Kanemi were the better side in the first half of the encounter and they missed several scoring opportunities before Abubakar Umar finally capitalised on a defensive mixup to slot home in the 16th minute for a well deserved half time lead for the away side.

The introduction of Kabiru Sanusi and Nura Mohammed pegged the opposite side back in their half and Kabiru Sanusi first impact after recuperating from a thigh injury he sustained in Aba during the NNL Super 8 which sidelined him for about a month was a free kick which stretched Itodo Akor in goal for El Kanemi to make a superb save on the hour mark.

Kada city restored parity in the 68th minute through Anayo Iwuala’s rebound effort following Kabiru Sanusi’s penalty miss after Anayo Iwuala who was a constant threat and torn in the flesh on the visitor’s defence line was fouled in the penalty area.

Chinedu Ohana would have given his side the lead with six minutes left, but his goal bound effort was blocked by Ekene Obi of Kada city.

The big moment came in the 90th minute when free kick specialist, Kabiru Sanusi curled the ball into the top corner of the net from about twenty five mitres from goal after Nura Mohammed was brought down.

” I’m happy with the win against a highly experienced side. We told the boys to play with more confidence in the second half and that made all the difference.

“We picked a draw away to GO Round FC and lost narrowly 2-3 to Heartland in Okigwe three days ago. It means the lads are beginning to understand how we want them to play. We have an away game against Akwa United this weekend in Uyo and our target is to get a good result”, an excited coach Adams Usman told Kada City media.
