Katsina United midfielder, Anthony Omaka has come out publicly to apologize for his irrational reaction in the game between Katsina United and Remo Stars.
Omaka had hit Remo Stars’ Abayomi Adebayo in the head while both were struggling to get possession of the ball in the controversial win for Katsina United.
Journalists and fans condemned the act after seeing the action in the highlight of the game that saw Tosin Omoyele score a brace for Katsina United while Sikiru Alimi’s well-taken goal led Remo Stars’charge which was completed by Alhameen Adegbite before Emmanuel Matthew broke the visitors’ back with a late winner.
Omaka, a former player of Sunshine Stars and Enyimba took to social media to express his apologies and regrets for the incident with Abayomi. He wrote:
“I had to open this Twitter account because of the ugly incident that happened yesterday in our match vs RemoStarsSC where I hit my opponent on his head, it is my regret that such an act ever happened to me, I’m a lover of footballer and would never wish bad.”
“I have always been a great football Ambassador and never been involved in any violent acts throughout my days with sunshine stars and even Enyimba international football club, I wouldn’t start now, I’m once again so sorry about yesterday.”
Katsina United is in a relegation battle while Remo Stars remain continental slot hopefuls.
