NPFL: I thought I will win the league this year – Ogunbote

Lobi Stars head coach, Gbenga Ogunbote has disclosed that he thought he will be crowned NPFL Champion this season.

The Oracle as he is fondly called joined Lobi Stars this season after a 2-year stint with Enugu Rangers where he won the FA Cup.

Ogunbote told journalists in an interview session held on WhatsApp platform, Family United by Football on Sunday that he thought he would clinch the title.

“With little time, I will win the league. I thought I will win it this year but unfortunately somethings happened, we could not manage and we slipped off the top but it is not over yet, we keep struggling till we get it right.”

Explaining how he has been able to qualify teams for continental competition, the Oracle said ” I go to every team with a mission to win laurels but you don’t get what you want. It is my philosophy that I thrive to go beyond the skies so when I fall, I fall on the stars and that is how I get continental tickets.”

Ogunbote has been a too flight coach since 2012 handling teams like Sunshine Stars, Shooting Stars, Enyimba and Enugu Rangers.
