The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has imposed strict sanctions on Nasarawa United following multiple breaches of the league’s Framework and Rules during their recent fixture against Plateau United on Sunday.
The Lafia-based club was found guilty of failing to provide adequate and effective security, which led to an unauthorized individual gaining access to restricted areas and harassing players and match officials of the visiting team.
In addition, disturbances caused by Nasarawa United supporters escalated into violent conduct, including an assault on Plateau United players.
The most serious incident involved a targeted attack on Vincent Temitope of Plateau United, who was physically assaulted with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Due to these infractions, Nasarawa United has been sanctioned as follows:
Stadium Ban
The club has been banished from its home ground and will play the remainder of the 2024/2025 NPFL season at Pantami Stadium in Gombe.
Fines
N1 million for failing to provide adequate security.
N1 million for failure to ensure proper conduct of their supporters.
N3 million for persistent breach of the NPFL Framework and Rules.
N1 million as compensation and medical expenses for Plateau United’s Vincent Temitope.
Nasarawa United has the right to appeal the decision in accordance with NPFL regulations.
