Heartland of Owerri aim to extend their bright start to the new season in Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with victory away to Abia Warriors of Umuahia on Wednesday, and started mocking their hosts.
Although The Naze Millionaires will be the guests at Umuahia Township Stadium, along school road in the Abia State capital, sports247.ng learnt that the Imo State-owned side are blowing hot for victory.
Such it is that the invaders from Owerri have already tagged their hosts ‘younger siblings,’ with a hint that they will use long standing experience of campaigns both nationally and continentally to carry the day.
Heartland posted their target for Wednesday’s fixture on social media, with a view that they will emerge top in the week 19 fixture because they are older than the Umuahia landlords.
Heading into the midweek fixture, Heartland top the Group B log with 12 points, same with El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri, who they edge on goals difference, while Abia Warriors are not even in the top-five.
Abia Warriors are sixth, same points with 2017 champions, Plateau United of Jos, but drop to seventh on goals difference, but will hae to put up a bold effort to avoid losing for the second time at home, as they did against Go-Round FC of Omuko in week two.
They will have to keep at heart a message from their visitors, who lost their opening match of the season but have since bounced back to form, and feel comfortable enough to mock their hosts on social media.
Heartland’s message read: “#NPFL19 We just arrived Umuahia, God’s own capital for tomorrow’s Oriental Derby with our younger sibling @AbiaWarriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium.”
