NPFL: Eguma wary of Remo threat

The gangly trainer of Nigeria professional Football Club, Remo Stars, played professionally for Sharks FC and was a fan favourite before continuing his professional football education in Anambra with Udoji United.

Boboye would go on to play professionally in Germany, the Netherlands and the Gulf before launching an expedition into the treacherous waters of coaching.

The last time Boboye led a team (Plateau United) to Port Harcourt to face Rivers United in a competitive game, it finished all square with the hosts lucky to escape defeat.

“I see it just as a game….it is not different from any other,” Boboye had famously told www.riversunitedfc.com.ng after the contest decided at the Yakubu Gown Stadium Port Harcourt on March 29, 2017.

Rivers United have started the 2018/19 season in solid fashion and have yet to taste defeat after three grueling fixtures away to Niger Tornadoes, Sunshine Stars and a home fixture against MFM FC.

The ‘Pride of Rivers’ will move to the top of Group A of this season’s NPFL if they win by any margin against Remo Stars at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Wednesday but experienced gaffer, Stanley Eguma is not taking anything for granted.

The Rivers United technical manager says the game will be ‘tricky’.

“It is another tricky test for us at home so we have to work very hard and fashion out a (positive) strategy that will enable us to win that match,” Eguma said to our official website, www.riversunitedfc.com.ng.

Wednesday’s game kicks off at 4pm at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt.
