Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Gbenga Ogunbote said the four team pre season tournament involving his team and three other traditional clubs, will serve as a good test for his boys ahead of the 2022/23 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Speaking during an interview in Lagos, moments before the draws for the Super Cup pre season tourney, packaged by Tingo Media and sponsored by Doxy Mmobuosi Foundation, took place, the Oracle as the tactician is fondly called, expressed happiness that his side was included in the tournament.
“While describing the inclusion of the Ibadan soccer lords among the traditional teams picked for the tourney as a big honour, the soft spoken coach hinted. “The money involved aside, I am most excited over the big challenge the tourney will offer because we will be competing against crack sides like Rangers International, Enyimba and Bendel Insurance.
“It is indeed a good test for us as we continue our preparation for the season. We have been preparing all this, while but I believe a tournament of this magnitude will further help in assessing how ready we are for the task ahead”, stated the gaffer.
On a personal note, the former Sunshine Stars, Rangers International and Remo Stars sweat merchant said he was excited returning to the Oluyole Warriors, having previously handled the team on two occasions.
He however noted the high expectations of the followers of the club as far as the upcoming season is concerned.
“I am quite aware of the expectations of the supporters and fans of the club and considering the belief that any team that Gbenga Ogunbote handles will always pick a continental ticket, it will make us work harder to achieve a positive result”, concluded the ex Sharks of Port Harcourt gaffer.
