“I’m happy. It is a good result, at least a draw is better than a loss,” said a delighted coach of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Uche Okagwe after his side picked a point in Lagos against MFM FC.
“We have been playing very well but the results have not been forthcoming and anyone who watch our matches can see that. We however hope that this is the beginning of good things for the club,” he told Sports247.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah came into the game with 15points from 17 games and languishing in 19th position on the Nigeria Professional Football League. The team has failed to pick a win in their last six league games with their last game ending in a 3-1 loss to Warri Wolves.
The coach also gave little information on Nonso Nzediegu who was subbed off early in the game after sustaining a deep-cut head injury. “He’s recovering. When he got injured I felt so bad because it spoilt our strategy at that point in the game but then he’s getting better,” Uche said.
After pulling level, FC Ifeanyi Ubah players were seen trying to slow the game with time-wasting antics on many occasions and the coach of the side explained that they weren’t necessarily wasting time but they were not used to playing on artificial turfs as seen in Lagos.
