Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) plan to table a proposal for all clubs in the domestic league to have a large percentage of private ownership, to engender longevity and continuity in the teams.
Sports247.ng gathered that the plan, according to NFF president, Amaju Pinnick would provide adequate funding and a stronger structure in organisation, management and continuity, instead of depending on football loving governors for short term success.
Pinnick enthused that the NFF are on course to become completely self-funding by the end of his second term in office and wants clubs inb the domestic league to follow suit.
Pinnick said his focus in the coming years would be to achieve full self-sufficiency for the NFF, and revealed that a blueprint for a minimal 20% funding of clubs by government would soon be released.
He expatiated that state funding cannot be completely ruled out, since the facilities and stadia are mostly owned by various governments, but pointed out that ratios and sharing formula would be determined.
Pinnick added: “Thanks to our many sponsors and partners, we have achieved 65-per cent private sector funding status.
“Football has a capacity to be self-sustaining and even contribute significantly to the national GDP. Our target is a hundred per cent.”
