The Young Africans of Tanzania have knocked out the Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United out of the CAF Confederations Cup in the second leg of their quarter-final at the Benjamin Nkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam on Sunday night.
Rivers United avoided defeat against their hosts, but it wasn’t enough to overturn the two-goal deficit they suffered at home last weekend in Uyo in the first leg as the fixture ended 2-0 on aggregate.
Rivers before the game were reported to have gone through unprofessional psychological torture from the fans of home teams when their bus was attacked and about $2500 was stolen.
This despicable act was seen during the game when the match was halted after 24 minutes of play due to a floodlight failure.
Both teams were given 10 minutes to warm up before the game got underway again.
The Pride of Rivers did all they could accept that the defense of the opposition had answers to every question.
The Young Africans of Tanzania will face Gallants FC of South Africa in the semi-final after the South African side eliminated Pyramids of Egypt 2-1 on aggregate.
