Abia Warriors’ Coach, Imama Amapakabo has stated that he is uncertain about the red card issued to his player, Wotlia, during his side’s Match Week 10 victory over Enugu Rangers.
Imama Amapakabo got the better of his former side, Enugu Rangers, by defeating them in Aba 1-0, courtesy of Samson’s Goal for the home side in the 23rd minute of the game.
The controversial moment of the match came in the 58th minute of the encounter when Wotlia was sent off for Abia Warriors for a poor tackle on an Enugu Rangers’ player, which changes the dynamics of the game. But despite the man down, Imama’s troops held on to what was a massive win, as they moved within a point away from the relegation zone on the league standings.
Speaking with Sports247 after the match, Imama expressed his uncertainty about the decision of the center referee to send his player off, stating that the referee might have viewed the incident from another angle or based on what the player might have said.
“I didn’t really know what happened, because both players went in for the tackle and both players were down. I don’t know what ensured there. I can’t really explain, because I am still going to look into that incident and also ask the player (Wotlia) what happened”.
“The next thing I saw from the referee was the red card, which is a bit complicated. Maybe the player must have said something or maybe the referee may have seen something different. So I think probably when I hear from the player himself (Wotlia), I will definitely know better”, he stated.
Abia Warriors, after that massive win, are now 17th on the NPFL table, while Enugu Rangers remain 5th, after Match Week 10.
