Kada City suffered a heavy defeat on Monday at the God’swill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo in one of match day 8 encounters of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
At the next of Champions, Akwa United were leading the proceedings by two nil at half time following Mfon Udoh’s opener in the 6th minute and Ndifreke Effiong’s tap in from close range twenty nine minutes later.
Kada City gained possession in the first quarter of the second half but lacked the last minute touch and could not penetrate the edge to split open the home side defense line. Five minutes after the hour mark, Ndifreke Effiong completed his double following a poor pass from a Kada City defender to make it three .
Kada City’s best scoring opportunity of the match fell the path of Sadiq Suleiman but his left footed effort came off the woodwork.
Akwa United completed the rout over the visitors in the 71st minute when Wisdom Fernando perfectly shot beyond Sunday Okoh in goal for Kada City after making several goal bound saves for a well deserved victory.
“I take responsibility for this defeat. I disagree we played individual football. The early goal disorganized our game plan. For those of you who watched our matches in Omoku and Okigwe will bear me witness how we have played very well in away matches.
” I also disagree our defeat was as a result of not travelling with several key players. We need to give other players the chance to play and fatigue is beginning to set in hence the need to rotate the team. I must also commend and congratulate our opponent for the win”, coach Adams Usman told newsmen.
