Ahmed Musa’s late winner gave Kano Pillars the maximum points against Niger Tornadoes in the NPFL Matchday 18 played on Saturday, Sports247 reports.
The Super Eagles forward, bounced back after missing the last two outings of Kano Pillars due to illness and it was a winning comeback for the man generally referred to as the “Governor” by the Mai Sui Gida fans.
Ahmed Musa scored in the 93rd minute to secure a 2-1 victory for Kano Pillars at the Sanni Abacha Stadium.
The feisty match saw both sides attacking with intent in the early minutes but it was Kano Pillars who broke the deadlock in the 30th minute through Rashid Alhassan, as Pillars ended the half by 1-0.
In the second half, Niger Tornadoes got the equaliser in the 60th minute through Aliyu Mohammed Goyi’s superb effort.
While the match drew to a closing 1-1 draw, Ahmed Musa showed up and made count it in the final monkeys to break the hearts of the Minna based team.
The goal was a winning return for Musa, who has been a massive addition to the team, helping Kano Pillars to their first victory in the last five and pushing them to number 7 on the log with 25 points after 17 matches.
Meanwhile, Niger Tornadoes coach,
Majin Mohammed of Niger Tornadoes has blamed his side loss due to injuries to key players in the game and disrupted his game plan.
In his reaction after the pulsating match, Majin said:
“Injury to my players early in the game changed the pattern of our approach to the game and that affected us.”
The coach also commended the fans who came out in their thousands to create a superb atmosphere for the match .
“It’s a good atmosphere here. If you come here and play good football, you get your results. I commend the fans.”
Elsewhere, Sunshine Stars ended their losing streak by edging El Kanemi Warriors by a lone goal at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode while Bendel Insurance got maximum points at home at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, by defeating Lobi Stars by 1-0.
