NPFL 2024/2025: Five Things To Know After NPFL Matchday 6

The past weekend was a weekend meant for the international break but the Nigeria Premier Football League NPFL season continues with the installation of Matchday 6 as a meagre of thirteen goals were scored.

The lowest this season but some interesting results was also posted with three teams teams winning at home with 1-0 scoreline, two teams winning at home 3-0 scoring line, with four games ended in a draw three of which ended baren, no away in two consecutive weeks.

Ikorodu City FC Record First Win

It was a weekend Ikorodu recorded their first win of the season as well in the history of the Nigeria Premier Football League.

The Oga Boys defeated Bendel Insurance by 3-0 in Lagos, putting behind them the last five weeks woes in the week which also consumed their coach Bright Ozegbagbe.

Though they are still rock bottom but they can fight for survival after recorded all possible resuts, a win, a draw and four losses, though they needed to minimise the loss for them to escape the drop this season.

Ahmed Musa fails to Kano Pillars

Ahmed Musa fired blank and failed to lift Kano Pillars as the Mai Su Gida left Uyo empty handed.

Akwa United also picked their first win of the season with the sweet 2-0 victory in one of the dominant home performances witnessed by clubs in the NPFL this week.

1 Away Goal

It was a weekend which witnessed just a scored away from home. Lobi Stars was it the honours as they drew 1-1 with Niger Tornadoes.

Though three other matches ended in a draw but it all ended in barren draws while the remaining six wins came from home with the away firing blanks.

 

540 minutes Invincibility For Rivers United, Elkanemi Warriors

Rivers United and Elkanemi Warriors have remained Unbeaten after 560 minutes of action in the NPFL this season as both sides played another draw in their respective matches over the weekend.

Rivers United now a total of 14 points in six matches having drawn two won six to stay behind Remo Stars who are back on top with 15 points .

Elkanemi are gradually becoming a draw specialist having drawn four games, out of the five games played so far, and on seven points with a gane at hand.

Rangers slumps, Enyimba, like Sunshine Stars shine

It’s another loss for the defending Champions this weekend, after they fell 1-0 in Ijebu with Sunshine Stars running away with the maximum three points.

The result put Sunshine Stars in fourth position leapfrogging Rangers.

Enyimba FC also show champions stuff by securing a hard-fought point in Ibadan against Shooting Stars.

The Yemi Olanrewaju tutored boys picked the valuable point to stay third on the log, keeping Remo Stars and Rivers United in sight as the battle for the league crown continues.
