Technical adviser of Rangers International FC, Coach Abdul Maikaba has assured the club’s numerous supporters that he and his wards were in Bauchi to fight for the maximum points in the Match Day 6, Group B, NPFL 2022/2023 season fixture against Wikki Tourists F.C.
The vastly experienced tactician said in an exclusive chat after his team’s mandatory training session inside the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Saturday, that his team was highly motivated going into the encounter with the clearance of the two match bonuses by management hence, the players would come out strongly to fight for the three points at stake.
Maikaba further said, “Actually, I will say that the morale of my boys has been boosted especially with the payment of the two match bonuses and you can see that the spirit is very high and the performance is improving, if you observed the last three games. So, I believe it’s going to be a factor in the match against Wikki. My players will come out strongly to fight for the three points and I believe at the end of it, if we get our acts right, I believe we will get the three points.”
Recall that last season when both sides clashed at this venue, it was honors shared after a goalless outing while in the return fixture in Awka, the ‘Flying Antelopes’ smiled away with all three points after a 2-1 win.
Rangers have not started the abridged league season as expected with two losses on a bounce but have dusted themselves and gradually finding its way back to the top having amassed five points from its last three matches and keeping two clean sheets going into this weekend’s fixture against the ‘Big Elephants’ of Bauchi.
