NPFL 2022/23 : Waheed Omololu Confident Of Bright Start For Warriors

Skipper of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, Omololu Waheed, is confident the team will get something positive from it’s opening fixture in the NPFL 2022/23 season against Plateau United of Jos.

The Ibadan soccer lords go into this matchday one encounter with an impressive pre season outings, which included a triumphant showing in the maiden NPFL/Dozy Mmobuosi Super Cup,

With quality signings like former Plateau United central back, Alex Aghahowa, Rangers duo of goalkeeper Bamidele Adeniyi and Left back, Bala Akintunde, Ghanaian born ex River United central back, Desmond Agbekpornu, in from ex Ikorodu United froward, Anthony Okachi, former Abia Comets dazzling winger, Akpan Joshua, ex Enyimba forward, Samuel Stone, Damala Promise from Wikki Tourists and Abdallah Hussein from Gombe United, among others, there is no gainsaying the fact that the Oluyole Warriors’ will be a contender this season.

Shooting Stars still boast of hardworking duo of skipper Omololu and Raheem Quadry, as well as Gali Falke, Opeoluwa Olufemi, Malomo Taofeek, Ayo Adejubu and others.

“We are parading, a blend of old and new players, experienced and young talents. We are in the right frame of mind,we are mentally and physically strong to beat all comers, starting with Sunday’s match against Plateau United in Jos.

“Considering how the coach Gbenga Ogunbote led coaches have been able to knock the team together, coupled with the motivation from the financier of the club, the Oyo State Government, through our players’ friendly management, we have no choice than to give our teeming fans the desired result”, stated the 3SC captain, who however agreed that it won’t be an easy contest against the Fidelis ilechukwu tutored Tin City boys.

The two teams have met three times in recent times, with Plateau United winning the NPFL first round tie 3-1 in Jos, while the Oluyole Warriors’ took their pound of flesh in the return leg, winning 2-1 in a game played behind closed doors, before the two sides battled to a nil all draw at the Value Jet Pre season tourney Ikenne.
