The leadership of the Kwara State Chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has expressed worry over the performance of Kwara United Football Club in the ongoing 2023 Nigeria Football Premier League.
This is coming on the heels of Kwara United FC 0-3 defeat to Enyimba in Aba on Match day 4 on Sunday.
In a statement signed by the Vice Chairman and Secretary Kwara SWAN, Toyin Saheed and Dare Kuti revealed that members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria are unhappy with the recent outings of the club.
The statement read, “Kwara United is yet to score a goal and record a win at their adopted home ground (Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasigba in Ibadan). The adopted ground of Kwara United has not favoured the team as the fans are divided.
“Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kwara State Chapter is calling on the players, coaches and management of Kwara United to buckle up as fans and supporters as well as well wishers of the club are unhappy.
“The performance of Kwara United has not been too impressive as they have not won a match at the 2023 Nigeria Premier Football League. Kwara United have recorded two draws and one loss which is not too good for the club”, the statement added.
The statement called on the officials of the club to voice out if they are confronting challenges in order to find a lasting solution to bedeviling the team.
Kwara United have played four matches, recording two draws, two losses and currently sit in ninth position on the log.
Kwara United will face Akwa United on Wednesday at Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.
