It took Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan sheer bravery to salvage a point from the match day seven fixture of the NPFL against visiting Bendel Insurance of Benin, played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, as they came back from two goals down to end the tie 2-2.
The visitors shot to a shocking lead in the first minute through Imade Osehenkhoe, who slotted in the ball after Kelly Kester was robbed off the ball by Insurance attacker, in what should have been an infringements against the visitors.
The Oluyole Warriors’ shrugged off the shocking start as they pushed forward for the leveller, but could not get it due to the defensive tactics of Insurance.
In the 37th minutes, Insurance doubled their lead against the run of play as a counter attack ended with Ismael Seriki finding the back of the net.
Taofeek Malomo however put 3SC back into the game, scoring in the 43rd minute to reduce the tally and could have levelled up minutes later but was brought down in the dangerous area by Insurance goalkeeper, only for the referee to wave it off astonishingly.
On resumption of the second half, 3SC continued to pile pressure on the visitors and this paid off in the 65th minute when Opeoluwa Olufemi, capped his fantastic performance up with the equalised goal.
Efforts by the Ibadan soccer lords to score the winning goal did not yield no thanks to the frustrating defensive tactics of the visitors.
The Oluyole Warriors will face Enyimba in a match day eight fixture on Wednesday, with the midweek cracker billed for the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba.
