The Match-Day 13 NPFL encounter had pitched Niger Tornadoes against the reigning Nigeria Premier Football League Champions Rivers United of Port Harcourt in what promises to be an explosive tie.
Rivers United were made to sweat before winning the reverse fixture by a slim merging of (2-1) back in Port Harcourt earlier in the season.
2017 was the last time Tornadoes recorded a home victory against Rivers United courtesy of Musa Wakili’s 11th min. goal in Lokoja. The two recent home games ended in a draw; 1-1 in Minna in 2019 and 0-0 last season in Ilorin.
Last weekend’s 2-1 defeat in Gombe against Doma United was Tornadoes first lost in 5 matches after recording 2 home wins, a draw and a win away in far away Uyo against Dakkada FC.
