Top marksman, Ibrahim Mustapha Yuga has emerged Plateau United player of the month of February.
The former Al-Hilal player Sudan striker scooped the award after hitting a rich vein of form to score four goals in the first Stanza of the ongoing 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Maiduguri born striker who has been in and out of Plateau United in the past three years is one of the team’s most reliable strikers whose goals has put the team back in contention for a place in the season-ending super six play-offs.
An excited Mustapha who could not hide his joy over the award, thanked his team mates, Coaches and the club supporters for their support and dedicated the feat to God almighty.
“This award is coming to me as a surprise because I was not expecting it. But never the less , am happy over it and insha Allah, am going to continue to give my best best to ensure Plateau United reach its target this season” the former Enyimba striker remarked.
Yuga as he is fondly called by his admirers, first joined the Peace boys in 2019 and his seventeen goals that season, propelled Plateau United to the league title before going abroad to play in the United Arab Emirates UAE league.
He returned to the NPFL to team up with the Peace boys in 2021, but after the season, he pitched tent with Sudanese giants , Al-Hilal in a short deal where he represented the North African club in the CAF champions League.
At the beginning of this season, Yuga terminated his contract with Al-Hilal over irreconcilable differences and retraced his steps back to Jos to rejoined the Peace Boys for a third stint.
Plateau United Player of the month award is an initiative of Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu which serves as an avenue of boosting the morale of the players to give their best under a healthy and peaceful atmosphere.
