Nigerian Correctional Service personnel with the rank of Chief Superintendent of Corrections (CSC) Shadrack Kolawole has called on the Nigerian selected referees for FIFA badges to buckle up on their responsibility in order to justify the honors that will be given to them.
While many are celebrating the news of having twenty nine (29) of Nigerian referees getting FIFA’s badge, Kolawole who is a lover of the round leather game and an avid football fan popularly hailed as ‘Marapele’ has stated that it’s not all about receiving the FIFA badge but to show FIFA character in their line of duties in the Nigeria Professional Premier League.
A total of 29 Nigerian referees will on Wednesday, 1st February receive their badges to operate as FIFA match officials for the year 2023.
This will be done at a special ceremony inside the NFF Secretariat, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja.
A total of seven of them will be badged as FIFA referees while another seven will be decorated as FIFA assistant referees.
Four are FIFA women referees and three are FIFA women assistant referees while the other four are FIFA beach soccer referees while another four are FIFA futsal referees.
One can notably recall that during the ongoing NPFL campaign, the NFF has already suspended some referees due to poor officiating and week in week out, there are still some questionable calls from them in terms of their woeful decisions in games.
Kolawole further enjoined them to stand firm in their decisions so as to justify the reason behind thier badges in line with FIFA procedures.
