Ikorodu City FC Director, Adepoju Tobi is feeling enthusiastic ahead of the NPFL 2022/23 League Kick-off while also revealing that the season will be full of exciting moments.
Adepoju allayed that the newly promoted teams will bring glamour to the league as well as newly recruited players who want to show what they are capable of will all bringing fervor to the season.
The interim management committee (IMC) had earlier stated that the league will be in an abridged format, a move which sports stakeholders, club owners objected to but they have all come to conclusion to go ahead with the IMC’s decision with kick-off scheduled for January, 8th of this month, Sports247.ng reports.
“The break has been for too long, five months plus, too much pre-season games for the club but we are excited for the resumption and the problems sorted as the league kicks-off this weekend ahead of the full schedule next weekend,” Adepoju explained.
“Participating clubs are ready, transfers done by them, Akwa United with decent transfers, Enyimba, Remo Stars.”
“Excited to see new players injected into the league, Akwa United promoted two of their youth players, Remo Stars promoted three, Shooting Stars signed the Alimi brothers, Bendel Insurance back in the league with a lot of history behind thier return as a side with pedigree, they bring glamour,” he added.
“It’s going to be exciting, an interesting season, an abridged league and we have a new board of NFF, we have seen what they have done with the referees.”
“The newly appointed committees, a lot of promises although TV games might still be a big challenge, broadcasting but there are other platforms the game can be streamed.”
“It will be a difficult starting period but when it finally begins, the excitement, momentum is there, the clubs will serve us interesting moments, it’s going to be a great season,” he concluded.
