Rivers United conceded just after the hour mark to slip to defeat at Doma United on Sunday in a matchday six fixture at the Gombe Township Stadium Pantami.
Denis Ndasi gave the Pride of Rivers the lead in the 25th minute, but the host levelled up the scores when Usman Musa fired in from inside the box.
Nyima Nwagua had a golden chance to put Rivers United back in front but was denied a penalty when he came face to face with the goalkeeper and was tripped from behind by his marker in the 54th minute. Usman Musa just after the hour mark headed in the winner from the edge of the box.
Next up Rivers United are back in CAF Confederation’s Cup action on Sunday February 12 as guest to CSMD Diables Noirs in Brazzaville Congo.
