The Benin Arsenals’ playmaker Divine Nwachukwu was timely with right back Ebuka Akobundu’s assist as he jabbed the ball into the net to register his name in the NPFL scoresheet and helped the invincible side to maintain their unbeaten run after 14 matches.
The Nigeria Premier Football League Group A leaders Bendel Insurance, though have not secured three maximum points in all their five games so far in the second round of the season but remain up the lather with 28 points as closest chasers Akwa Utd surrendered all three points at Plateau Utd while the people’s Elephants moved to the second position on 24 points, after pipping Kwara Utd in Akure.
Insurance are going back to Benin with confidence to prepare for the week 15 game as hosts to El-Kanemi Warriors on April 22.
In a post match interview, Insurance Manager Monday Odigie said that he was pleased with the away draw.
He praised his boys for their strong character.
Odigie said that his team will continue to work hard and fight till the end of the season.
” We played against a very good side and we didn’t take them for granted. If they had converted all their chances against us,it would have been a different story. Insurance is a young team and we know that if we don’t fight it will be difficult for us to remain in the NPFL. We don’t work by expectations but fight for everything.” Odigie enthused.
On the other hand, coach Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars who was visibly not pleased with the outcome of the game said that the result is a bitter pill he will have to swallow.
” My boys were reckless in the box and we suffered for our mistake. It is one of the bitter pills one has to swallow as a coach.” He said.
