Resurgent Dakkada Fc today defeated Sunshine Stars Fc 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio international stadium, Uyo to put an end to a bad start of the elite league season .
Stars were resilient in the opening quarter of the game with no clear cut chances for both sides
Mustafa lawal drew a safe in the 22nd minutes from close range in the 3 yard box to keep Sunshine Stars into the game .
The home team pressed high in search of an opener but Stars midfield was a bit strong for the Dakkada attackers to penetrate easily .
However , in the 33rd minutes Ejike uzoechi was shown a yellow card for a rash challenge on a Dakkada attacker.
Efforts by Sunshine Stars to shake the net in the first half wasn’t enough as the first 45 minutes ended goalless
Stars continued where they stopped in the first half and quickly mounted pressure on their opponent , David Onovo , Achi Nnaemeka and muritala lawal combining well in attack forcing two quick free kicks in the 55th and 58th minutes respectively.
Edith agoye made his first substitution in the 61st minutes as he introduced AbdulAziz Ajagbe who replaced Muritala Lawal who eventually got a yellow 🟡 card for time wasting.
Pressure was however mounted 7 minutesater by the home team , but Stars defence were clinical in disposessing the attackers
Stephen Chukwude was replaced by jide Jimoh in the 68th minutes to add the much required bite Into stars attack .
The goal eventually arrived for Dakkada Fc , Ejike uzoechi mistakenly nodding home in an attempt to clear from goal line ,after Mustafa lawal tipped the ball to hit the upright .
Sunshine Stars wasted no time in getting an equalizer , the goal coming in the 73rd minutes , this time , Lanky Defender, Udon Ekeretter rising above others in the box to nod in David Onovo’s Corner kick from the right flank .
Shockingly, Dakkada Fc increased the tally 4 minutes after conceding a goal .
The second goal scored via a goal mouth scramble following a build up that looked offside and Stars players thought match officials would blow for an infringement, all waived , allowing Dakkada attacker to alot home .
Sunshine Stars gaffer , threw in Emenime Israel , Michael Olalusi into the game , the duo replacing Samson Olasupo and mafeng Pam in the 81st minutes .
Five minutes added to the 90 minutes wasn’t enough for stars to get a leveller as the match ended 2-1 in favour of Dakkada Fc.
Sunshine Stars retains her 4th position on the log with 12 points from 8 matches.
