Abia Warriors had contracted a good coach in Imama ahead of the new season, the club had also shopped for players and presented the highest number of players unveiled before the new season.
Expectations were high and positive results were expected ahead of the new season but unfortunately, Abia Warriors started on a wrong footing posting 4 losses in a row in the Nigerian Professional football league.
He was predicted to be the first NPFL coach to be sacked but alas things began to turn around for the young tactician and former national coach with 2 straight goalless draws in week 5 and 6 against MFM and Lobi Stars of Markudi but this was achieved with a strong 3 match ultimatum from the Club’s management.
The statement from Abia Warriors could be said to have inadvertently ignited the magic touch in Imama to explode.
” I am happy how things are turning out gradually, despite the fact that many were saying that I will be the first coach to be sacked in the season”.
He was full of commendation to his boys for quickly rising up and promised to take each match as they come.
Abia Warriors have gone 10 matches unbeaten in a row now winning 5 and Drawing 5 with an emphatic win over Kano Pillars (4 – 1) at the Okigwe Stadium.
