Akwa United started this encounter impressively with flurry of attacks against Kwara United, but the visitors had the first chance which was missed by Gata.
Biffo and his men were punished in the 18th minute when Stephen Chukwude benefitted from a defensive error to give Akwa United the lead.
United would have restored parity before the end of the first half when the center referee awarded them a penalty after Evans Ogbonda handled the ball in the box, but Stephen Jude missed the spot kick.
Biffo decided to bring in Samad Kadiri in the second half, and minutes after entering, the former Enyimba man restored parity for Kwara United in the 70th minute.
Akwa United tried their best to break the defense of Kwara United at the death and that gave Ayobami Junior the chance to counter, but his pass to Afeez Olororo was blocked as the match ended 1-1.
Speaking to the media in Uyo, Kwara United assistant coach Ashifat Sulyman praised his players for the rugedity, but added that some corrections will be done ahead of next game.
Boboye on the other hand for Akwa United blamed his wards for missing some chances against Kwara United.
