A spectacular display in the second half, capped with four well taken goals, ensured Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan, mauled Heartland FC of Owerri 4-0, to continue with their winning streak.
Coach Edith Agoye made few changes to the squad that started the game against MFM in Lagos last Sunday, with Olaide Okanlawon retaining his position in between the sticks, with Abbey Benson, Uche Ezeala, Amodu Nurudeeen and Ghali Falke retaining their places in the defence.
A little shake up in the midfield saw Anietie Uko, joining Akilu Mohammed and Olatunji Damilare just as Gafar Olafimihan and Kolawole Daniel were joined by Alalade Wasiu in the starting eleven.
The Ibadan soccer lords fought very hard to find the back of the net in the first half but the Naze Millionaires were lucky to survive their onslaught.
When the Stars thought they had broken the deadlock, their joy and that of their home fans was cut short, minutes to the end of the first half, after the referee disallowed Wasiu Alalade’s goal.
On resumption for the second half, 3SC, backed by their vociferous crowd, increased the tempo, as the kept bombarding the visitors with series of attacks.
This paid off in the 53rd minute, when Kolawole Daniel put the ball beyond goalkeeper Segun Fatunwase, in goal for Heartland.
Determined to score more goals, the Oluyole Warriors refused to take their foot off the pedal as they piled more pressure on the visitors, resulting in about three penalty calls which the referee ignored, to the surprise of the spectators.
Like in previous games, the coach Edith Agoye led technical crew, had to bring to bear their technical expertise with productive substitutions.
First to be introduced were the duo of Malomo Taofeeq and Adejubu Ayo, who came in for goal scorer, Kolawole Daniel and Wasiu Alalade respectively.
The changes paid off in the 77th minute as the stars doubled their lead through Malomo Taofeeq, with hardworking Gafar Olafimihan providing the assist.
Not yet satisfied with the two goal lead, coach Agoye and his men brought in Odeyemi Ebenezer and Nafiu Raheem for Gafar Olafimhan and Akilu Mohammed.
In the 85th minute, substitute, Ayo Adejubu, after being put through by Anietie Uko, dribbled his way through the visitors’defense and goalkeeper Fatunwase, before slotting in the ball for the third goal.
Nafiu Raheem put the icing on the cake, two minutes into the added time, to earn the Oluyole Warriors a big win and a leap to the sixth position on the log.
The in form Shooting Stars, will travel to Ikenne for a mouth watering matchday eleven clash against Remo Stars, with the Southwest derby billed to hold on Sunday at the Remo Stadium.
