NPFL 2021/22 : A Spirited Second Half Performance, Not Enough To Earn Tornadoes A Point On The Road

Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) pipped visitors Niger Tornadoes FC by a lone goal in an NPFL Match Day 27 encounter decided at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan.

The rampaging hosts went ahead seventh minute on the clock when Omoduemuke Moses whisked the ball away from in-between the legs of Sunday Akinmoladun and powered home a grounder beneath George Michael in goal, to hand the home team the lead, although, Sunday Akinmoladun appeared to have been fouled in the build up to the goal but referee looked away.

The duo of Shamsudeen Hashim and Jimmy Abdul were introduced early in the second half, in a bid to steady things and as well improve the team’s attack, not long after the changes, the visitors seized control of the game, initiating dangerous attacks and making several incursions into the hosts rear.

Shooting Stars Goalkeeper, Detan Ogundare, pulled a remarkable save to deny Ahmadu Liman and Jonas Emmanuel who combined well inside the box in a triumvirate attack that had Munir Idris waiting to do a tap in.

Another chance appeared when Abiodun Adebayo located speeding Jimmy Abdul from the edge of the box but the goalkeeper again, intercepted.

In the dying moment of the game, the hosts looked to have doubled their lead when a dangerous attack came off the cross bar, as goalkeeper George Michael watches in owe.

The referee, brought what was an entertaining ninety minute of football to a halt when he blew the final whistle.

Speaking on how his team responded in the second half, Abubakar Bala Mohammed said, he was pleased with his team performance after a dominant second half display that saw his players missed several chances.
