Coach of Abia Warriors, Imama Amapakabo has commended his players’ efforts against Enyimba Fc, despite his team’s 1-0 loss to the people’s elephant in their match Day One fixture of the 2020/2021 NPFL season.
Abia Warriors were defeated narrowly 1-0 by Enyimba in Aba on Tuesday, with Samad Kadiri scoring the only goal of the game from the penalty spot in the 53rd minute of the encounter.
Speaking with Sports 247 after his team’s loss, the former Enugu Rangers Coach hailed the efforts of his side, while commending Enyimba as a good team. He also admitted that his team would bounce back from the defeat, as the League is just in his early stages.
“We didn’t do badly, from a possible 114 points, we lost 3, so we have 111 to chase. I am impressed with my team for losing 1-0 and it was a goal from the penalty spot”.
“We played against a very good team and it wasn’t a bad show. It was an exciting game”, he said.
Abia Warriors will hope to get their first win of the new 2020/2021 NPFL season when they play host to Rivers United in their next NPFL game.
