Enyimba FC midfielder Anthony Omaka insists he wants to play all the time and added he can’t predict a NPFL winner yet ahead of the huge clash against title rivals Kano Pillars on Sunday.
Omaka joined The People’s Elephant last summer from Sunshine Stars of Akure where he made his marks by scoring goals from midfield as a box-to-box midfielder like Michael Ballack and Michael Essien.
However, Omaka is yet to find the back of the net in his last three league games in a run of matches where Osho Fatai’s side have won two matches and lost just once in the NPFL – but ahead of a busy few weeks, Nigeria International midfielder insists he is as desperate as ever to be involved.
‘I want to play every minute and every game,’ Omaka told News of Enyimba FC. ‘I want to play for 95 minutes, not just 90! But I do respect the coaches’ decisions.
Ahead of the clash against title rivals Pillars – who have a two-point lead off Enyimba in the NPFL- Omaka added that it was difficult to predict a title winner this season due to the unpredictable nature of the campaign.
‘The situation is completely different now due to the coronavirus, as every team has an equal chance of winning because of the fans’ absence,’ the 24-year-old added.
‘It’s still early to predict an NPFL winner this season. Everyone is close, but I hope we win it again and make history with this club after the club won it in 2019.’
‘Injuries have hit us badly this season,’ the Nigerian international said. ‘You can see how we are playing at centre-back, but we can’t stop here, we need to keep going.
‘We have many young players who are playing well. I can’t say much about [the recruitment of players or transfer market], it’s management’s call.’
