After requesting to change home grounds from the Aba international stadium to the Okigwe stadium, the League Management Company, LMC has approved the request for Abia Warriors.
The Umuahia based team had been sharing home grounds with local rivals, Enyimba but have lacked the fortunes in the stadium, unlike their rivals.
In a tweet from the LMC’s official handle, the Stadium was one of the first set of stadia approved by the LMC for a league game.
“AbiaWarriors’ request to play their home fixtures at the Okigwe Stadium has been approved starting with their Match Day 6 game against MFM. The Okigwe Stadium was in the first batch of grounds approved to host league matches after the pre-season inspection for the infrastructural requirement for licensing.”
The LMC however reminded Abia Warriors to keep to Covid-19 protocols at the stadium.
“Approval was conveyed in a letter dated January 21st and signed by Salihu Abubakar, COO of the LMC who reminded the club that COVID 19 protocols must be strictly adhered to at all matches.”
The Amapakabo led side are without a win in 5 games and only picked up a draw in their last game against FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
They face MFM FC in their matchday 6 fixture on their new home ground on Sunday.
