Coach of Heartland Fc, Fidelis Ilechukwu has blamed lack of concentration and a series of errors in dangerous areas for his team’s 3-2 loss to Heartland Fc in the Match Day 1 of the new NPFL season.
Heartland Fc lost 3-2 away from home against Katsina United after surrendering a 2-1 lead with just nine minutes of normal time left, only to conceded two goals in four minutes to lose the encounter.
Fidelis Ilechukwu’s boys were on course of victory but suffered a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat to their hosts, at the Muhammadu Diko Stadium.
Heartland took the lead in the 2nd minute of the game, through Bright Onyedikachi, but Katsina United canceled out the advantage late in the first half, through Boubacar Masally’s 44th-minute equalizer.
In the 81st minutes, the Naze Billionaires regained the lead through Samuel Nnoshiri, but two goals in the space of four minutes from Masally’s in the 88th minutes of the game and Samuel Kalu in the 92nd minutes shocked the visitors as Katsina United came out with all 3 points in the encounter.
Speaking with Sports247, Ilechukwu blamed his team’s lack of concentration and series of errors in dangerous areas for his team’s collapse. He further stated that his side will surely correct their mistakes before the next match.
“It’s so painful that we lost the game, after the first half, everything was alright, but we collapsed towards the end of the match. We were relaxed because the boys thought the game is done and dusted”.
“We lost concentration and made series of errors in dangerous areas and Katsina scored twice in three minutes, ” he said.
“We have already noticed the lapses and we will surely correct them before our next game”, the former MFM coach stated.
