Heartland FC is set for another showdown with Warri Wolves on matchday 17 of Nigeria Professional Football League, Sunday 21st March 2021, by 4 pm, at the recently refurbished Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, Imo State.
Both teams are distinct from another on the log with Heartland placed 11th after their victory over Wikki Tourists in NPFL Matchday 16, taking their tally to 22points, while Wolves sits in 18th position with 15points.
Wolves having endured a difficult start to the season have lead Coach Evans Ogenyi to be shown the exit door from the club.
Heartland goalkeeper Chijioke Ejiogu (Arugo Monkey) who has kept four clean sheets in between the sticks this season for the Scientific Boys, reiterates that his experience in the league has played a pivotal role in organizing his defense and stressed that the Naze Millionaires, God willing are aiming for a continental slot.
“When you are in the post (goal) you need to organize your defense and know what to tell them(defenders), because, like me now, I have been in the Nigeria league for almost twenty-something years, you know, I don’t like maybe my defenders staining my name, I like when am keeping, I will always be the best, that’s the thing, what I want to promise Imo State people by the special grace of God, we will get a continental ticket this season” Ejiogu who is a former Enyimba and Akwa United shot-stopper told Heartland Media.
