The Nigerian Professional Football League matchday seven kicked off on Friday when Plateau United ended Nasarawa United’s unbeaten run on Friday evening. Yesterday, however, Kano Pillars were next to suffer the same fate with the same scoreline to the home team in Uyo.
A 29th-minute header from Ndifreke Effiong off a cross from Etiboy Akpan condemned pillars to their second loss of the season and second consecutive on the road as they were unable to recover and get back into the game.
Coach of Kano Pillars, Lionel Soccoia has blamed fatigue for his side’s loss and urged the organizers to consider the fixture congestion and help ease the pain the players face.
“There is a need for the organizers of the league to consider the hardship teams are facing on the road and playing 3 games in a week,” said the Kano Pillars gaffer.
Kano Pillars went into MD7 in 5th position but are likely to see their team drop down further after the remaining games of the matchday.
