The long-awaited NPFL 2020/2021 season finally kicks off on Sunday, December,27th 2020, after several hiccups and multiple postponements as Lobi Stars FC are already on their way from the Ijebu Ode pre-season camp base to invade Nnewi in high spirit to take on home boys FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the FC Ifeanyi Ubah stadium.
Lobi Stars having invested so much in the effort, finances, time, and adequate preparation with star-studded inclusions such as U-20 star midfielder Victor Arikpo, (Deportivo of Portugal returnee), experienced safe hands Mustapha Aliko, (former Niger Tornadoes and Katsina United), Spencer Bassey from Dakkada, Zenke Andrew from Enyimba, quick and visionary pint-size central midfield player Onuwa Chukwuka from MFM, unbeatable central defender and rock strength home boy Moses Tsehuan from Nasarawa United, Chilekwu Chigozie from FC Ifeanyi Ubah among others, FC Ifeanyi Ubah will be up for tough times.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah struggled to escape with a draw when Lobi Stars came visiting in the FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium Nnewi last but aborted 2019/20 NPFL season. The last season result could be a catalyst to spur Lobi Stars to a possible away victory.
The recent provisional venue approval by LMC is a huge relief for FC Ifeanyi Ubah as the game against Lobi Stars would have been played in an alternate venue should the league had kicked off earlier than now. Ifeanyi Ubah will now be playing in the comfort of their home at FC Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium Nnewi. That in itself is an advantage to the oil magnate boys and Lobi Stars need to acknowledge that fact and step up their approach.
Speaking to Lobi Stars Media, The Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars Coach Kabiru Dogo showed so much confidence in his team. His words: I would like to appreciate The Government of Benue state for supporting and financing our preseason program, I can assure you that Lobi Stars is arguably the most prepared team and with the Calibre of players in our camp we are expecting nothing short of an outright victory in Nnewi by the grace of God.
